1History collects no personal data — no name, no email, no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no IP address is ever stored.

Everything you do in it — reading, settings, personal markers, your review points — stays on your device. The app never contacts a network on its own. There are exactly three ways anything leaves your device, and you start every one of them:

  1. Apple. When you choose to download the full collection, Apple's App Store system delivers the content package. Purchases are handled by Apple too; we never see your payment details. Apple's own privacy terms cover both.

  2. A link you tap. Cards can open their Wikipedia article, and pictures can open their Wikimedia Commons credit page. Tapping one opens Wikipedia in your browser, the ordinary way — so Wikipedia sees that request, as it would for any link. Nothing is opened for you, nothing is fetched in the background, and the link is never routed through anything of ours or through a translation proxy: that would tell a third party which card you were reading, which is the whole thing this app is built not to do.

  3. Translation reviews you choose to send. Most languages in the app are machine translations, marked as drafts. You can help improve them: rate a card's translation with a thumbs up or down, or suggest better wording. This is off by default — nothing is sent until you turn it on. You are asked once, when you first download the collection, and you can change it any time in Settings. When it is on, your ratings and any wording you write are sent to a first-party endpoint of ours so that a person can review and improve the translation. What is sent: the rating or the wording you typed, the language, which card it is about, and a random number generated on your device to tell distinct contributors apart. No name, no email, no IP address — a handle is offered but optional. The reviews are used only to improve the translations; they are never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never used to track you. Because a submission carries no identity, we cannot single yours out afterwards — so please don't type anything into a suggestion you would not want to be public.

In particular, the pictures are not fetched while you read. They are downloaded once, inside the content package, and shown from your device. An app that loaded each picture when you opened its card would be announcing every card you looked at, one request at a time. This one cannot: the code that would reach for a picture on the network is switched off in the shipped build, and a check in our release process refuses any build that grows a new network call of any kind.

We never sell or share anything, and — apart from the translation reviews you deliberately send — there is nothing collected to share, sell, or delete.

The app's bundle carries a privacy manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) declaring exactly this: no tracking, no tracking domains, and — only when you opt in — the translation reviews you choose to send (the wording you write and a random device number), and nothing else.
